Let’s Talk About This Sorta Taboo Subject
Oh my goodness, the holidays, eek, they’re here. Next week is Thanksgiving, and then boom, Christmas, and then the year is over.
There’s 5 weeks left of 2024, so I thought diving into this subject might be helpful…
This is one of those topics that can be loaded. And get a bit prickly and uncomfortable sometimes with family, friends, clients, and colleagues. Some people avoid this topic, like the plague, and label it as bad. Others embrace it, and maybe a bit too much…
So what’s the topic?
MONEY!
When you read that, what comes to mind? Do you feel tension, frustration, or maybe a mix of hope and gratefulness?
What’s so fascinating about money is that it’s just energy. Yet, people have all sorts of labels for it. The simple ones are whether it’s good or bad.
The real truth is money isn’t a villain or a hero.
It’s something you need to live, support your family, and fulfill your purpose for being here on this planet.
Yet, many of us carry heavy baggage about money. Or what I call “thought distortions.” These are based on old beliefs or past experiences that we hold onto. (And sometimes the scary part is that we don’t even know we’re holding onto them…)
Maybe you’ve felt there’s never enough or believed you don’t deserve more than the bare minimum.
These old beliefs are barriers that block you from stepping into the abundance that you so rightly deserve.
Take a minute and ask yourself:
- What are my beliefs and the stories I keep telling myself about money?
- Have I ever felt like there’s never enough?
- Or have I felt that I don’t deserve more?
- Have I ever labeled wanting more as selfish?
I get it—I’ve been there too. Growing up, I believed there was a fixed amount of money in the world, and if someone else had it, there would be less for me.
Yet the real aha moment is there’s plenty to go around.
So, what if you started looking at money differently? Not as something to fear or obsess over… see it as a resource to help you do good, live well, and support your dreams.
Choose to see it as a partner—a resource that empowers you to lead, give, and serve in alignment with your values and mission.
Transform Your Beliefs And Your Money Story
Changing your relationship with money starts by shifting your mindset and working through your old beliefs. It’s not about wishful thinking—it’s about consciously creating a new narrative. These steps will help:
- Examine Your Beliefs and Your Thought Distortions
Write down the messages you’ve carried about money since childhood. Are they serving you, or is it time to release them? (T. Harv Eker’s book, The Millionaire Mind, may be helpful. See the link in the Book Review section.) - Use Empowering Affirmations
Replace limiting beliefs with affirmations like, “I am worthy of financial abundance.” ( I always have a money affirmation in these eNewsletters to inspire you. See more below. 🙂 - Set Intentional Goals
Think about how money can help you make a bigger impact and guide your financial decisions. - Start Small
Pay attention to what you want and need. Write it down. Affirm it mentally. Even tiny shifts—whether it’s giving yourself permission to charge what your work is worth or simply believing in the abundance around you—can create ripple effects.
It’s About Alignment
Money isn’t about greed or materialism—it’s about freedom and possibility for you. When you embrace it with clarity and purpose, you can lead more authentically and generously.
Whether you’re investing in your business, supporting a cause you care about, or simply living without the constant stress of scarcity, a healthy relationship with money gives you the power to make the difference you’re here to create.
It’s a way to support yourself so you can show up fully, serve your people, and live your values.
So today, I invite you to take one small step toward healing your money story. Start recognizing it as an important part of your soulful journey.
When you align your beliefs about money with your values and mission, abundance doesn’t just become possible—it becomes inevitable.
What’s one small shift you can make today to rewrite your money story? Leave a comment and let me know—I’d love to hear from you. Theres soooo much more I can share about money and, oh, the lessons I’ve learned, the mountains of $75k plus debt I’ve overcome… Interested in more? You know what to do.
Paragraph I’m Pondering
“We choose to stay in our stories because we get what I call a false benefit from them – We get to keep our identities as a broke person, we get to blame our brokenness on things outside ourselves (I don’t have time, I have seven kids, the economy sucks, I can’t find a pen to write down my to-do list with), we don’t have to push ourselves outside our comfort zones and risk failing, looking like an idiot, losing money, changing and becoming different from our family and friends – the list goes on and on.”
~ Jen Sincero, You Are A Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth
Powerful Affirmations to Inspire
- “I am a magnet for financial abundance, and money flows to me effortlessly and consistently.”
- “My wealth grows daily, and I am grateful for the opportunities that come my way.”
- “Money is a tool that enhances my life and the lives of others. I use it wisely and generously.”

Weekly Photos
Been home for a few days now after my whirlwind tour of being in Dallas at Perry Marshall’s Round Table event and then taking care of my mom for a week. Check out some new animal photos that I added to my usual Emma collection. 🙂
- Emma’s become quite the dog model for Amazon Vine lately. (That’s the name of their Amazon review site. I get free stuff in exchange for an Amazon review.) I’ve gotten a few winter jackets to try out and review. She doesn’t like this one cuz of the turtle neck feel. It was quite funny. She refused to move, even when I dangled treats!
- Another angle from the side. Yeah, it’s too big for her, yet she’s got the modeling thing down, tho!
- Meet Charlie, my sister’s cat, who I took care of along with her dog and my 85-year-old mom last week. The cat was a stray, and now she’s housebroken, a very cuddly, sweet cat.
- Emma and I on our FaceTime call. She loves connecting with me while I’m away. (Yep, I took a screenshot, so I only got part of her face.)
- Meet Bentley, my sister’s Great Pyrenees. He’s 12, and what a sweet dog. He’s always watching out for me.
- I loved this pic of the moon hiding behind the clouds that I took the night I flew home. It was pretty amazing from the air as well.
- Some definite winter weather here. Just went below freezing. And now we’ve got rain all week. It made for an interesting pic of Shasta Bally.
