That Feeling When You’re Fully in Your Element…

Have you ever felt pure joy because you were in your element and what you were doing felt more like a calling or like you were living your purpose?

You know, those moments when you’re so immersed in something that you look up at the clock and have no clue you’d spent that many hours doing it?

Or maybe it was more subtle—just a quiet, satisfying feeling that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. It could be helping a friend, offering guidance, working in your business, or simply showing up for someone who needs support.

This leads me to something I don’t talk about much—the second shift that I had in my business … I shared last week about when I first started my business, that my focus was purely on marketing.

What I didn’t share was that a year or so in, I decided to hang out my shingle as a marketing AND life coach. The reason is because so many entrepreneurs I met thought they needed marketing help, when in reality, they also needed mindset help too. (I also wanted to put that 3 yr. Coach University Certification to good use to guide and coach more folks.)

That experience opened up my world to helping people on deeper levels, guiding them to deeper meaning… It wasn’t just about business strategy—it was about guiding people to something more in their lives.

Then as my business grew, I kept getting more entrepreneurs who wanted both, mindset coaching and help marketing their businesses, so I combined the two.

As businesses do, once you’ve had it for a while, it just keeps growing, shifting, and changing…

That’s when I shifted and went full force with guiding people to build and grow their online businesses with all the marketing experience I gained from experts and doing million-dollar launches.

When my business exploded, I ended up working for many of the experts in online marketing… This led me to a more cynical place, which I talked about in last week’s eNewsletter, and led me to create Soulful Marketing. (If you missed it, you can click here to view it.)

The interesting thing is, as I look back, I didn’t ever say and promote myself as a coach. I wonder if that was a conscious decision because it felt like everyone was calling themselves “a coach,” and I wanted to be different… Ha…. 🙂

Have you ever had that experience? Where you decide to change how you market yourself, or make decisions cuz you don’t want to be like everyone else?

So, after having the most amazing coaching session with a client last week about mindset and business, I thought, wow, what an impact we both had on that call.

How being in the energy, beauty, and presence of another human being, just the act of being a coach mode, listening, caring, and asking questions, can move and shift.

By the end of the call, I really felt like we had broken through to the other side of resistance for them.

How just one moment like that, will change everything for them in their business and their life.

It also made me realize how often we rush to fix things instead of simply being present.

When was the last time you truly listened to someone without thinking about what to say next? What would shift in your relationships—personal or professional—if you approached them with more curiosity and being present and less urgency to solve?

And what I love the most, about the coaching session with my client is that it wasn’t planned. Coaching is like walking through a forest with an expert guide. You follow them on this paved path, then it winds one way, then another. Then it’s a dirt path, and at times there’s no path.

Yet, you still see them a few steps ahead, or they’re beside you or behind you, supporting you and guiding you one step at a time…

And then, at some point on your journey, you look up from the path…

You see the break in the trees, and you notice the clouds moving in the sky and the bright streaks of light from the sun breaking through the clouds…

It’s then you realize there’s the path that your coach led you to. And it’s to follow and live into your best and highest purpose on the planet.

And it’s the realization that you don’t ever have to do it alone.

There’s nothing like the struggle of thinking you know your purpose and have started dedicating your life to it, and then a year, two years, or more go by, and things change.

You start to feel off, the resistance drops in, and you’re not sure if you want to switch gears or how to get back on track to living your purpose, make a bigger impact, and guide and support as many people as possible…

Maybe your business isn’t lighting you up the way it used to. Maybe you’re craving something new but aren’t sure what that looks like. That feeling? It’s not a stop sign—it’s an invitation.

Instead of forcing yourself to push through, what if you paused and asked: What’s one small step I can take today to move toward more alignment?

That’s the work of a lifetime. Here’s what I know for sure—you don’t have to do it alone.

What I realized today through my client and from my own work is that time isn’t going to stop. And it’s not too late to live or revisit your mission, values, and purpose and create amazing success for your dream clients and for yourself…

The family’s all together for the family photo on my birthday. Emma clearly would rather look at Alice than the camera!
This dog is always wrapped up in a blanket on a piece of furniture, snoozing. This place is in my office, where she spends most of the day popping in to say hi on my client calls.
On my birthday we had a bit of sleet and a dusting of some snow. So of course I had to take a pic of it!
I like this sign – it is definitely a motto to live by. It’s in our favorite breakfast place where we went for my birthday. Since we had to cancel our plans to go up to Astoria, OR, to stay with a dear friend- the mountains north of us got dumped with snow. And they closed the roads. So it was safer, albeit a little sadder, to be at home. Yet, we had fun filled day, doing all my favorite things.
Yep, we did it (ummm, actually, Alice really did it.) She made a New Orleans King Cake; it was so good. And, of course, I got the baby. I grew up in New Orleans. And if you don’t know what a King Cake is…
This is just kind of crazy—yep, this week, I found ANOTHER dime. Four weeks in a row, I’m finding change. (It’s too bad that the parking meters are all electronic now! Ha!) This time, it was in the grocery store. Something in me said to look down, and there it was. No words, really.
There she is – Mt. Lassen. She’s huge, and look at all of her snow!
