Rampage of Gratefulness, Appreciation & Blue-Skying
Today in the U.S., we’re celebrating Thanksgiving. I love this time of year when friends and family get together to share a meal (or a feast), gratitude, and connection with each other. This leads me to my fascinating adventure of this past week, where the topic was “the future of possibility.” It came up more than 3 times this past week. And as the Universe works in mysterious ways, none of them were planned… The first was a class about “Choices” that I talked about earlier in the month, where the topic was imagining a future choice I wanted to make. For me, it was about finishing my book. It…

This lil bugger has invaded my space…
So this happened… Earworms have invaded my space this week… Yep, this is a bit of an unusual topic. Surprisingly, earworms have a bit to tell us about messaging and mindset. Quick refresher: earworms are when you get a fragment of a song or a tune that literally can come out of nowhere (when you least expect it) in your head, and your mind starts humming or singing along. Sometimes even out loud. What I find fascinating is that scientists have studied this, showing how powerful our memory is with music.”(Interesting tidbit – if you put information to music, it can even help you remember facts and details more easily.) Did…

Why did you start your business? (Or why are you working where you do?)
When I first started my business back in 2006, it wasn’t because I wanted to go out on my own. I was incredibly scared and a bit freaked out. I spent all my life in corporate America. In fact, I had been laid off unexpectedly 2 years earlier and failed miserably as an entrepreneur. So I went back to corporate, and honestly, it was ok. Yet, I felt it in my bones, I was definitely not living my life purpose. There came a point when I was just kind of done with being an employee. So, when they laid me off in 2006, I knew I had to make a choice.…

What separates highly successful people from anyone else….
I just came across another terrific article from Inc.com. They always have good combos of business, marketing, and uplifting short reads that are clickbait worthy. They often talk about Warren Buffett (who just turned 92) and what separates highly successful people from everyone else. It’s something that you probably already know. And it’s definitely something that’s at the core of Soulful Marketing — His classic quote says it all: “In the world of business, the people who are most successful are those who are doing what they love.” ~Warren Buffett The big question for you is — “Are you doing what you LOVE for Income?” And if you’re not doing what you love,…

Let’s make a pact to stop doing this…
I took on a very big launch project six weeks ago. It was for a company that I helped launch two of their other docuseries very successfully back in 2017 – 2018. They had a change in management and reached out to me for a relaunch project. It was one of those decisions I had to think about because I was moving away from big client launches and working on a one-to-many strategy by teaching many people how to create Successful Soulful marketing launches. Have you ever had to make a decision like that? I ended up thinking about it for a bit, then finally decided to do it for a couple…

Is your business like Nike? Lessons from an athletic shoe company
Last week, I shared about how your business changes over the years and how that change will impact your dream clients/customers. My core message was to ensure you connect with your power dream clients/customers and interview or give them a survey so you can take into account their needs before you implement your changes. This week, I promised to share some interesting insights from Nike (and the athletic shoe industry) – focusing on sales from a unique perspective. And how these insights can help your business. My spouse, during her college years, supported herself by working part-time at Athlete’s Foot. She was one of their top salespeople. She knows running and athletic…

Something a bit off the beaten path than my usual blogs…
Each week, when I sit down to write my weekly eNewletter, the idea usually just comes to me. I LOVE my intuition and connection with my inner writing and marketing guide. Yet, I often wonder if you’re a bit disappointed when you get this each week that I’m not giving you enough about marketing, launching, and making money… (If you have thoughts on this, leave a comment, I’d love to hear what you think.) Especially when I write an email like today’s – Something a bit off the beaten path, and it’s a bit of a long story. So tuck in, or save and read later. Before I get to my story……

It’s about the little things…
When I recently presented to a group of 17 people about how to create your intention and vision for the New Year, I got some feedback that totally blew me away. Not because it was about me or my teaching. 🙂 Their comments about this exercise blew me away because I thought everyone knew these types of concepts. In my presentation, I mainly wanted to get everyone connecting together and answer some questions as a type of assessment for this year. I learned this exercise from my amazing coaches – Debbie Phillips and Rob Berkley, and I have done this process for 12 years. It’s called The Great Start Program. I don’t believe in…

“Change is good,” she said…
Have you ever had something happen that you weren’t expecting and just turned your life upside down? Such as losing a big client, getting injured, getting sick, or maybe something happened to a family member. One thing I know — change is just hard, and actually, I’d dare to say, in all honesty – change just sucks… When things happen, you share it with your close circle of supportive people, right? So when I did, that’s when she said — “Change is good.” And then rattled on why… Well, depending on where you are in the process of acceptance, you may want to hug or throttle that person like I…

Being grateful… Something a little deeper
One of the hardest things I ever had to learn (and who am I kidding – still learning…) is when you’re suffering from grief or a loss… How do you turn it around and get to a place of being grateful for the life lesson? What’s not helpful is to try to shove it under the proverbial rug, take a substance to forget about it, and try to shove it down and not feel it. Years ago, before I got into recovery, I remember telling a good friend that I wished we didn’t have feelings. That all they’ve caused me was great sorrow and havoc in my life. That it would…

If only – a personal heartbreaking journey
My spouse Alice and I listened to Brene Brown’s Atlas of the Heart audiobook as we drove home from being away in Lake Tahoe for a week. And aside, I love listening to her books because it feels like a more intimate experience. She always adds extra stuff and talks to you like you’re in her kitchen over coffee. And repeats important phrases… (I will be doing a review of this book in the coming weeks.) While listening to her book, it sparked some interesting conversations, one of which was around the phrase “If only.” And another was one my Dad always said I needed to stop my “what ifing” myself… It got…

Taming Your Brain
A bit of a heady mindset topic for this week. Stick with me on this brief journey into your brain and how we work on trying to change your neural pathways to form some fascinating changes in your work and life… Curious? Ready? Let’s go… For the past 20 years, I’ve been taking classes, studying, reading, and practicing meditation and mindfulness. From what I’ve learned – Here’s an example of how the mind works – You’re speaking with someone, and suddenly, something they said hits you weird, and you start to get mad or upset – some feelings start coming up. Do you stop at the moment and notice the emotion bubbling up?…

Letting go of this one thing will help transform your business
When I was just starting my business in 2006, I simply wanted to get my foot in the door somewhere. I needed new clients and was doing everything I could to get them. The biggest source back then was going to live events consistently and always connecting with my mentor and his group of colleagues. (Before the social media craze.) What alluded me was that I was so desperate for clients I could have been more discerning. It was all about the hustle and bringing in money. I had just gotten laid off from my corporate job, and we had a big mortgage, taxes, and a stepson to put through school. I was…

What does a priest, a website, and a vacation all have in common?
We finally took a vacation last week. And I still can’t believe our last vacation was our honeymoon when we married in June 2019! Since my spouse is in medicine, with the pandemic, we wound up staying put for the duration. We did take some day trips here and there. And there’s nothing like taking a full seven days off and just getting out of dodge… Since it was the first trip out, we decided to pick a place we could drive to for now. I’ve been to almost every state in the U.S. (And around the world twice – thanks to my 20 years in corporate). Seattle was the one…
