It’s Time to Change Your Stories

What are the stories you keep telling yourself? You know, the ones when it comes to putting yourself out there in a big way to promote your business – “Oh, this won’t work. Someone else has already created something like this. I need to come up with a new idea.” Or “Who do I think I am trying to sell and promote this course? I don’t have enough experience.” Or “I can’t ask for $500. That’s way too much for this course. I don’ think they will pay it.” Can you relate to any of the above statements? It’s essential to pay attention to those thoughts that pop into your…

    It’s Moving Day – Ready?

My executive coach always shared with me how important it is that you have a plan for EVERYTHING. And she had a saying – “Planning promotes perfect performance.” Well, in this instance, I had a plan, yet, things came up as they do, which delayed some packing and other plans to get the house in order. What’s interesting is no matter how much I plan, it’s like our stuff keeps multiplying! I think it’s a phenomena that all people who are moving experience – am I right? Every time I turn around I see stuff to pack. I’ve been at it for the past 3 days, and now my brain is on…

This is Not for the Faint of Heart

Two weeks into 2022, it’s already proving to be somewhat of an adventure and not for the faint of heart. Interestingly, “Adventure” is my word for the year, and it didn’t disappoint. I like picking a word for the year that I use as my decision touchstone.  There was an excellent article in the NY Times if you want to discover more. I think I mentioned in an earlier email that we’re buying a house. It’s about 10 minutes from our current one. Or if I didn’t, well here you go … 🙂  Now that we’re nearly done with the whole buying process (We’re closing today.), it has been a…

    Happy 2022 – What’s Next?!

We did it – we made it into another new year! I have to admit it wasn’t as smooth a ride as I’d hoped.  How about you?The year had some major ups and downs (like when I injured my back), and the end of the year was a wee bit bumpier than I had expected… Yet, my spouse and I survived – intact and with no virus….  I’m not sure how I didn’t come down with the virus because I had some work at the Disney Parks in Orlando in early December and it was CRAZY. Hundreds of thousands of people were there, where masks were only required indoors.  Picture…

I Did Something a Little Crazy

Have you ever stepped out of your comfort zone and done something a little crazy, or maybe out of your ordinary routine, or stretched your beliefs? Well, that’s what I did last week. I bought a course for $6,000. Ummmm, yeah, a little out there for me cuz I’ve not ever spent that amount of money on a course before. I’ve spent upwards of $25k on a year-long mastermind, and I’ve also spent $5k for a 3-day weekend training. And, I’ve spent $12k a year to be in Brian Kurtz’s Masterclass, which was like a mastermind, where we met three times a year in person. (Yeah, before the pandemic.) Plus,…

It’s Time to Make Peace With This…

Being on this planet for 50+ years, I feel like I’ve done a lot, seen a lot, and experienced a lot. Yet other times, I feel like such a newbie. Do you ever have that feeling? When it comes to Thanksgiving, several things come to mind. I mean, I have seen my fair share of this holiday. Yet, why must I do the same thing every year? Hmmmm it got me thinking… In fact, on my walk today, I was reminiscing about my favorite Thanksgiving – the one right after my 12-year relationship ended and Debbie Phillips (Founder WomenOnFire.com) and Rob Berkley invited me to spend the holiday in Martha’s…

Best productivity secret I’ve used for over 10 years…

How’s your end-of-the-year “things you want to accomplish list” coming along? You know the one I talked about last week… And if you’ve decided you’ve done enough this year and you need a break – good on ya – that’s cool. If you’ve got your list and getting things accomplished, I’m thrilled for you. And if you’re anything like me, it’s been a bit more of a struggle. I’m letting too many things distract me. So I’ve upped my productivity game and doubled down on the strategy that never fails me – it’s called the Ivy Lee 6 method. Have you ever heard of it? It’s been keeping me organized…

    Are you a positive energizer?

Have you ever heard of a positive energizer? Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of reading and researching about positivity for a client. When I came across this term – “Positive Energizer.” It was really interesting stuff and I wanted to share because… In the early part of my life, I spent it being incredibly negative because that’s all I knew how to be. I had no idea there was another way to live and that my mindset mattered. It wasn’t until I hired an executive coach that I discovered there was another way of being. That I had a choice to stay in a negative thinking mind or do…

    Upon reflection… what connects us

Today is such an incredibly historic day on so many levels. It’s inauguration day for the next President of the U.S. – Joe Biden. Plus, the first woman of color and biracial descent to be the Vice President – Kamala Harris. I’ve watched and read so much about the day. I wanted this email to be a little different. I got up early to watch all the inaugural festivities, which, to be honest, I’ve not ever done before. Well, the last one, let’s just say, “he was not my president.” Plus, I think I was traveling that day.  And before that, I caught glimpses of Obama’s, yet I was working…

    Lessons In Being Grateful

One of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life was to walk away from corporate America. To be honest, it was corporate America that walked away from me first.  So what happened? The company I had put my life into for over ten years decided to make my Director of Corporate Communications position redundant. So I was floundering around for almost a year trying to get another job in a company because that’s what I was SUPPOSED to do.  Working for myself was out of the question. I needed to have that big paycheck and health insurance. It was 2005. I was in a relationship. We had a child…

The Productivity Secret That Will Change Your Life

One of the things I’m constantly struggling with: my plate is incredibly full. I just have way TOO many things on that proverbial plate and it’s constantly weighing me down. I’m a Strategic Marketer & Product Launch Manager, I help people get things done, and here I am, revealing to you my own challenges with getting things done.  Well, I’ve actually invested good money with experts to help me “organize” my office, my computer, and my life, as well as I got a new desk, bookshelves, and on an on. The interesting thing is after that expert gave me this “system” it wasn’t mine. So I had great difficulty in…

5 Goals to Achieve This Year

If you’re up for it — I am going to push the envelope a little today and actually give you five goals to try to achieve by the end of the year. Remember you are never going to know if you are capable of something if you don’t take that first step. 1. Go small This may be a big one to start with but here goes-Downsize.  Look at all aspects of your business whether that includes employees, vendors or service providers.  If you find that there is a way for ONE provider to handle multiple jobs than cut back.  This may sound strange but sometimes less is more when…

How to Take Bigger Risks This Year

Something fascinating happened to me a few years ago that was worth repeating. I had this experience that totally changed my perspective on how I would think and do things in my business and my personal life. Here’s what happened— I had decided to go to the DMV, yes everyone’s favorite place to make jokes about.  I had been putting it off for almost a year and I had to finally deal with getting a new title. I actually wanted to cross if off my to-do list!  (I had paid off my car loan—yeah, and needed to get the lien holder name off my car title.) I had a phone…
