This Simple Method Saved Me from Our Long HVAC Saga

You’re not gonna believe this, as I can’t believe it myself: our  HVAC was finally installed last Friday, October 18!

Yeah, it’s kind of CRAZY! It broke back in JUNE!

I still can’t believe we survived basically one of the hottest summers on record with no central air – ha!

So, how the heck did we do it? (Well, besides what I already mentioned in this post.)

I used several things I’ve learned over the years and some I discovered earlier this year.

Yet, at its core, this was my favorite – “one day at a time,” albeit a bit overused phrase, so eye rolls are welcome. And one, if you’re in recovery, are very familiar with it as I am.

And the honest truth is that’s how you can get through anything….

Let’s connect this with being a mindful, purpose-driven entrepreneur and go a bit deeper and break down “one day at a time.” Once I show you this process, you can accomplish so much more than you ever thought possible.

Here’s a tool I created for this process. It can help you tackle obstacles in your business and in life: The Mountain Method

When you break things down into small, consistent steps, you can accomplish way more than you think. The Mountain Method is a fresh take on the classic Iceberg Model. You know, the one where most of what drives you is hidden beneath the surface? So, instead of an iceberg, picture a mountain—a climb toward your goals, step by step. It’s about digging deeper into what’s driving you so you can see why things work (or don’t).

It’s a reminder that success isn’t just about the tasks you do or what people see on the surface. It’s about the beliefs, systems, and daily actions that build the path to your goals. And just like climbing a mountain, you can only see the peak from where you stand—not all the steps it takes to get there.

When you’re facing a challenging project, focusing solely on tasks won’t cut it. You need to dig deeper into the thoughts and emotions that might be holding you back.

Using The Mountain Method allows you to explore those hidden influences and identify any limiting beliefs, thought distortions, or old patterns that may be sabotaging your progress.

Instead of just managing surface-level behaviors, this approach helps you realign your inner world or mindset so your actions truly reflect your purpose.

When you start to focus and address what’s beneath the surface of the mountain, you can make more empowered, authentic decisions and create the lasting change you need to move forward in your business and life.

This is what got me through the whole HVAC that we’ve been waiting on since June, and it just got installed last week, 4 months later! (Even though a forklift sliced through the AC coils, meaning the AC was installed a week later—just in time for winter! Ha!).

This model is about addressing beliefs, creating a plan, taking daily actions, and finally reaching the result.

Now, enough about me and my HVAC woes – Here’s how The Mountain Method can help and inspire:

  1. Start at the Base: Your core mindset—what beliefs are you carrying? Are they helping or holding you back? If your thoughts are “I’m not good enough” or “this is too hard,” climbing that mountain is going to be tough. Shifting to “I can figure this out” or “one step at a time” gives you a solid start.
  2. Check Your Framework and Resources: What systems, tools, or support do you have in place? A good plan, tools, or someone to keep you accountable makes the climb smoother. Hiring a coach, assistant, or other helpful resources works too. Without this, you may feel stuck.
  3. Daily Actions & Practices: Small, consistent steps matter. Writing, meditating, taking a walk—those daily actions build momentum. Habits and behavior practices can either move you up the mountain or hold you back.
  4. Outcome & Results: That’s the result—what people see. They don’t see the work you’ve put in underneath. Whether you finish a project or launch a product, the peak is built on everything below it.

The Mountain Method is all about helping you recognize that your results—what’s visible—are built on everything that’s happening below. If something’s not working, don’t just push harder—look back down the mountain and adjust your mindset or systems. That’s where the real change happens.

When you focus on your mindset, create solid systems, and keep taking consistent action, one foot in front of the other to reach the top becomes a lot more doable.

Want to give it a try? The Mountain Method – Positive & Negative Scenarios

I’m giving you my new Mountain Method tool to walk through this process yourself. It’s a 4-sheet PDF, with examples of both positive and negative scenarios, plus two blank sheets for you to fill out. It’s still a draft, so I’d love any feedback you have.

How to use it:

  • Walk through it first by looking at a project or goal that had a negative outcome or maybe just fizzled out. Walk through the method and identify what:
(1)Beliefs and Thought Patterns/Distortions: Spend more time on this step cuz this is where you will find your breakthroughs.
    (2) Framework and Resources or support: Did you use or not use resources, hired experts, coaches, tools, tech, etc.?
    (3) Daily actions and practices: What did you create to get this done efficiently and effectively?
    (4) Outcome and Results: what happened? You will get some amazing insights into what was holding you back.
  • Then, rewrite that same project or goal with a positive outcome, as if you’ve already succeeded. Act “as if.” Build in new thought patterns and beliefs you want to have, and see how they shift your approach. Trust me, this will change the whole model.

This tool has created some big “aha!” moments for me, and I think it will do the same for you. Even just spending 10 minutes a day on a project can make a huge difference.

This method is simple, but it’s powerful. It’s helped me and many others climb the mountains that once seemed virtually impossible.

You can use it for any project or goal you’ve been struggling with—it’s all about understanding what’s really going on underneath and taking steps that actually get you to the top.

I’d highly recommend it to help you with a project or goal you have yet to accomplish. Simply click on the link below and start using it!

Weekly Photos

Photos I promised from our Shasta Dam Adventure and more….

  1. Such terrific views are seen from this hike at Shasta Dam. It’s the second-highest dam in the world.
  2. Here’s the map with all the trails and the whole area.
  3. Alice took a picture – that was an old sign for a small town that used to be there.
  4. Love the tunnels on this hike – made for some cool pics.
  5. Check out this tree growing out of the rock – it’s called a Manzanita. It has one of the toughest and strongest barks and grows anywhere, including inside a rock.
  6. Of course, Emma came along for the hike. That’s one very happy and tired dog. Look at her tongue hanging out. She got plenty of water on the hike to keep her bopping along on the trail.
  7. This was a bit ominous morning. You can see the smoke from a fire nearby mixed with some serious rain clouds.
