Your Unique knowledge, Neighbors, Google Chrome, the iPhone, and more…
My 89-year-old neighbor, Harrietta, stopped by yesterday with her 9-year-old Labradoodle, Harley. As they’ve both gotten older, they don’t walk as far. My house is about halfway on her walk, so she usually stops in to sit for a few minutes while they both drink some water.
While she was sitting in my kitchen, she had a question about her iPhone. And if you’ve got a senior person in your life, you probably know where this is going…
Now, Harrietta’s been on this planet long enough that an iPhone in her era was totally unheard of. And honestly? She hates the thing. (Just like my Mom. 🙂 Thinks it’s a necessary evil. She doesn’t like the idea that people can reach her wherever she goes. (This, of course, drives her daughter nuts trying to get a hold of her. 🙂
She leaned over, opened the compartment in her walker, and pulled out her phone. She said she’s been having trouble sending photos to her grandkids.
Now, I’m no tech geek… and yet I’ve been experimenting with technology since I got my first laptop, an IBM ThinkPad, back in 1992. (We called it the “StinkPad” because it had so many bugs!)
Since then, my knowledge of tech has grown leaps and bounds. Helping folks with it is pretty easy for me. And the funny thing is, I never saw it as anything special. I’ve always assumed, doesn’t everyone know how to do this?
And yet… back to Harrietta. Me showing her one simple thing on her phone? It totally opened up her world. She can now send photos to her grandkids. Something that seemed so simple to me? Turned out to be huge for her.
Then, just a few days later, this happened again on some client calls. They were struggling to find files, lost in a sea of Google Docs, browser tabs, and too much digital clutter.
And I realized, this is what I do without even thinking. If the knowledge I have can make a bigger impact and help them, as in this example, feel more organized or tech-empowered, I’m gonna help them; it’s really a no-brainer.
So last week in my mastermind group, I shared a simple tip about how to use Google Chrome’s tab groups. (Because, let’s be honest, I usually have at least 50 tabs open at any given moment.) Google added this little feature where you can group and save your tabs, and even after you shut your browser, the groups stay intact with all those tabs/links.
Everyone in the group had this “Wait — WHAT?” moment. They had no idea this even existed.
And it took me two minutes to show them something that’s now saving them time and stress every single day.
If you’re curious, here’s my new favorite page to share if you use Chrome:
Click here and scroll down to “Save your tab groups for later.” It’s all the way towards the bottom of the page.
So, what does this have to do with marketing?
Everything! It’s the old truth:
You have knowledge people would invest in — even if you don’t see it as “special.”
If you’re not already doing this, here’s a simple practice:
- Start to notice what people ask you for help with and start writing it down.
- Only write it down if it’s something that you love helping/sharing with others.
- After you start doing this, you’ll begin to see a pattern. (Or you can add all this into AI and ask it what it sees as the pattern, too.)
There’s so much value in simply noticing what others see in you, what they value in what you bring to the table, how you inspire and help and guide them.
You know, it’s what they count on you for. The things you assume that “everyone knows.” Yet, you realize they don’t. It’s usually something that comes naturally to you but feels overwhelming to them.
Think about it like this:
You’ve gathered a wealth of wisdom from your life, work, struggles, and your wins. And when you stop overlooking them?
That’s when you’ll start to see new ways to help and guide people — just by being more you.
You don’t need to invent anything new. Just pay attention to what’s already in your hands.
The gifts you think are ordinary might be extraordinary for someone else.
And that is an impactful way to Soulfully market your business, using your natural gifts to help and guide others. I hope you do this exercise. You have so much knowledge and inspiration to share with others, I can feel it here from here!
Hands at your back always.
We got this! 🙂
Quote I’m Pondering
To the world, you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.

Put Your Ass Where Your Heart Wants to Be

Cool Stuff
- What do you think research says is the happiest stage of your life? Hmmm… interesting.
- Key trends that are shaping buying behavior this year from a like-minded soulful authenticity lens.
- If you have ever wondered why prices often end in 5, 7, or 9s, you should check out the latest information on how Target is utilizing this strategy and actually encouraging people to spend more. Ummmmm
AI Info and Resources
- Well, this really isn’t surprising that Chatbots can be manipulated through peer pressure and flattery…
- Robot food delivery service is coming to a home near you. Check out “Robomart,” a new delivery robot. It looks more like a tank. Hmmmm. Wonder if this will go down in flames like the “Rocket Belt.”
- Some folks have been saying for a while that AI prompts are dead. And well, that’s definitely not true. Just look at the TV, Barbie, and Tupperware; they are still around and have moved and changed over the decades. So to those folks who say “prompts are dead,” AI isn’t like the flying car, the Rocket Belt, or the Airocycle. Prompts are very much alive, and here’s an interesting article that might surprise you.
Weekly Photos
- Busy week to start off September, mama deer (and turkey) are bringing their new offspring around the neighborhood. Emma would have loved seeing them.
- Classic Emma photo, loving the sun and hanging on the deck, sitting like a person. Her favorite spot.
- The wild turkeys are coming. A mom and her two chicks are roaming around the neighborhood on the side of this new house being built.
- Emma and I in her favorite position, on my lap, hogging the camera. That face… 🙂
- Here’s the Sacramento spillway with the bridge and big clouds. I love the mornings on the Sacramento River Trail, so much cooler down there.
- No surprise that I keep finding feathers and dimes around the neighborhood. Found a dime right after this pic, yet it was buried in the new asphalt and too dark to get a good pic. I did wedge it out, though. It’s all discolored from the asphalt oil….
- Yeah, I know, I get to live here. 🙂 Hence, I love the Sacramento River Trail. And you can see the River winding its way to Shasta Bally. She’s 6,199 feet tall. Lots of trails up there, maybe I ought to go explore some when it gets cooler.
