The Best Marketer of the Year Award goes to…

You might have guessed this answer if you read my email from last week… 🙂 (And thanks for all the kind comments – appreciate you!)

This woman is simply on FIRE – Taylor Swift. Congrats on almost breaking the internet with your ticket sales to your live concerts, and now for breaking massive movie ticket records. Holy cow… what a force!

Broke Movie Records – With her Eras Tour Concert Film – In the first 3 hours that pre-order tickets were available – AMC says their sales topped 26 million. And that was just one theater chain! Movie studios didn’t know this was coming, forcing them to move their release dates away from Swift’s movie release on October 13.

Swift definitely knows her fans because she knows exactly what they want to buy. She’s an incredibly strategic and brilliant marketer.

Let me give you some quick stats just from her Eras Tour:

Shatter Largest Audience Attended by a Female Artist – In Glendale, Arizona, Swift shattered the record for the largest audience ever assembled at a concert by a female artist on American soil, drawing an incredible 69,000 fans.

The most tickets ever sold in one day – An unprecedented 3.5 million ardent devotees clamored to secure their place in history through the verified presale registration, marking history as the most tickets ever sold for a single artist in a single day.

In the realm of music, Taylor Swift’s accomplishments have not only made history— they also have valuable marketing insights for you!

Here’s even more impressive stats, along with some Strategic Marketing Tips to inspire you:

  1. Chart Domination: Taylor Swift achieved the remarkable feat of simultaneously having four albums in the Billboard chart’s top 10, a feat unrivaled by any living artist in 60 years.
Marketing Tip: Think about either diversifying your product or content offerings to capture a broader audience. Or how can you narrow your dream clients to a specific niche? And then connect your offers together in different price points like a pyramid from lowest price to highest price with your content building as you go up the pyramid.
  2. Record-Breaking No. 1 Albums: Swift became the first female artist with a staggering 12 No. 1 albums, surpassing Barbra Streisand’s previous record.
Marketing Tip: Consistency in your marketing and communication, plus a strong mission and vision will help you create and maintain a loyal community and create consistent monthly income.
  3. Streaming Supremacy: “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” became the most streamed country album on Spotify in a single day and the most streamed album in a day in 2023.
Marketing Tip: Embrace emerging platforms and technologies to reach wider audiences and stay at the forefront of your industry. You don’t have to be on ALL of them. Simply pick one that you like that fits you best, whether it’s video, audio, photos, or a combination of content on a platform that has your dream clients.
  4. Charting Excellence: Swift’s consecutive number-one albums across five years echoed legendary acts like The Beatles, Drake, Jay-Z, and Paul McCartney.
Marketing Tip: Strategic planning and timing can help you maintain a competitive edge and achieve consistent success. Strike when the iron is hot. Know what’s happening in the world at different times of the year to take advantage of that in your promotions.
  5. Sales Milestones: Taylor Swift’s exceptional achievement of selling nine records with half a million copies in one week demonstrated the power of fan engagement.
Marketing Tip: Focus on building a strong community and leverage their support to boost sales and brand loyalty. I’ve talked about this a lot in my emails. Go here to check out past content on building a community.
  6. Top 10 Triumph: Simultaneously having top 10 songs from three albums, a feat matched only by The Beatles, showcased Swift’s unparalleled influence.
Marketing Tip: Innovation and creativity can set you apart from the competition, making you a trendsetter in your industry. Think out of the box – or in this case, there isn’t a box!
  7. Vinyl Resurgence: Swift’s remarkable vinyl sales (Over 500k) underscored the enduring appeal of physical media.
Marketing Tip: Adapt to evolving consumer preferences while preserving elements that will attract your dream clients. It’s about being unique and following your mission and vision.
  8. Concert Extravaganza: Swift’s Eras Tour, setting attendance records across multiple venues, emphasizes the importance of live experiences.
Marketing Tip: Invest in creating memorable live events or experiences that resonate with your audience to foster community.
  9. Billion-Dollar Aspiration: With her Eras Tour on track to potentially gross over $1 billion, Swift showcases the potential for monumental financial success in the music industry.
Marketing Tip: Set ambitious but achievable goals for your business and consistently deliver exceptional value to your customers to reach new heights.

Remember that innovation, consistency, and a deep connection with your dream clients can lead to remarkable achievements, just as Taylor Swift has demonstrated in her illustrious career.

Happy September – hope it’s filled with beautiful fall weather, colorful leaves changing, brisk and cooler mornings and evenings and looking for that hot chocolate cuz cooler weather is coming.

Weekly Book Review
Make Your Ideas Matter: Stand Out with a Better Story by Bernadette Jiwa

Weekly Photos:
Loved our time in Portland, OR. I so enjoyed my time with my spouse and our son – being tourists and drinking lots of good Stumptown coffee (always with a heart). Then there’s the smallest park in the world that made it into the Guiness Book of World Records.

A photo of our family. And I had to put this food photo. I don’t like posting too many food photos. YET, this one was SO UNIQUE. It was a breakfast sandwich called an Apple Fritterwhich. It was bacon eggs and cheese on an apple fritter. OMG yes, it was pretty amazing and sweet and savory too. Then there’s the landscape of one of the many bridges in downtown Portland with lots of clouds for a sweet affect. 🙂
