Sometimes you just gotta take a break…

This has been a hellish week, not sure what’s happening in the Universe, but grief and work are kicking my ass. I’m writing this short note to you because I didn’t want you to think I forgot about you this week. It’s about keeping my commitments from now on.

I had this really good article for you, I wrote about “When you think feeling is the problem…” My therapist this week said I needed to listen to Ezra Klein’s podcast from last week, in which he interviewed Pema Chodron.

I’ve been learning from her for over 30 years. I’ve read almost all of her books. And I did a book review on the one that impacted my life the most – When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice For Difficult Times. This book guided me toward peace, acceptance, and a bit of enlightenment during a very tumultuous time in my life.

What I’m going through now is definitely not a cakewalk. Yet back then, there was so much loss, too. A different kind, a loss of identity, friends, work, and so much change. It makes me wonder about growth, life, and how things sometimes just keep coming back like a boomerang cuz there’s just so much more work to do…

Have you ever gone through a time in your life like that? Like a dark night of the soul kind of time period? I’m here if you want to share. One of the many things I enjoy is being around like-minded people and realizing I’m never alone. And how much we need each other to bear witness to each other’s pain, hurt, joy, love, and laughter.

That’s all I got for an early Thursday morning.
