Journey into the Human Psyche (Part 1)
Have you ever had a moment where you read something, watched something, or maybe a friend told you about something that totally grabbed your curiosity, and you had to dig deeper to discover more? Well, that’s where I’ve been these past several days… Ever since I started reading True Believer by Eric Hoffer, this journey into the human psyche has really got me incredibly curious. The fun part is my spouse Ally is just as fascinated by the human psyche. Usually, before she heads off to the hospital, we always have our coffee and talk. Lately, we’ve been reading aloud from True Believer and having some insightful conversations. (I do love being with someone…

When you find your head spinning…
I remember when I first started my own business fifteen years ago, and I was torn in SO MANY directions. It was a bit nutty. And I was a bit of a mess. The stress level was pretty much through the roof, and I was pretty exhausted. There’s so much to do when you start a business. Questions like – Do I register with the Federal government and get a federal ID# (This is what you need to do in the states) or just be a solopreneur. How do I get new clients? Or how do I sell my stuff and make money fast? It’s quite endless. Then there was…

Dear Future Self – What a Year 2020 was – yikes!
Another holiday season almost under the belt – yay! This feels like it’s been the longest year ever. I still can’t believe I’ve been home in my office for nine months. That’s not ever happened before. Usually, I’m off traveling to meet clients, attend a mastermind, an event, or visit my mom. I’m sure you can relate. So, I was home long enough to put together a gingerbread type house for the holidays. Instead of gingerbread, it was made with Oreo cookies and fluffy white icing. I’ve not ever tried to do one of these before. And when you check out my picture, you will know why! I’m not sure…

Lessons In Being Grateful
One of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life was to walk away from corporate America. To be honest, it was corporate America that walked away from me first. So what happened? The company I had put my life into for over ten years decided to make my Director of Corporate Communications position redundant. So I was floundering around for almost a year trying to get another job in a company because that’s what I was SUPPOSED to do. Working for myself was out of the question. I needed to have that big paycheck and health insurance. It was 2005. I was in a relationship. We had a child…

5 Must-Have Tools for Successful Entrepreneurs
During these bizarre times of COVID-19, I started looking at all the tools I use that help me be more successful (and productive), it really only boiled down to 5. I thought it might be helpful to share them with you, especially because all these tools just happen to be tech tools. And a lot of us are now confined to working from home, with the exception of me, I’ve always worked from home since I own my own business. (And FYI – I’m a Mac person – former PC user.) And hopefully, you know some of these, if not all of them, and maybe even using some! 1) Evernote…

The Productivity Secret That Will Change Your Life
One of the things I’m constantly struggling with: my plate is incredibly full. I just have way TOO many things on that proverbial plate and it’s constantly weighing me down. I’m a Strategic Marketer & Product Launch Manager, I help people get things done, and here I am, revealing to you my own challenges with getting things done. Well, I’ve actually invested good money with experts to help me “organize” my office, my computer, and my life, as well as I got a new desk, bookshelves, and on an on. The interesting thing is after that expert gave me this “system” it wasn’t mine. So I had great difficulty in…

5 Goals to Achieve This Year
If you’re up for it — I am going to push the envelope a little today and actually give you five goals to try to achieve by the end of the year. Remember you are never going to know if you are capable of something if you don’t take that first step. 1. Go small This may be a big one to start with but here goes-Downsize. Look at all aspects of your business whether that includes employees, vendors or service providers. If you find that there is a way for ONE provider to handle multiple jobs than cut back. This may sound strange but sometimes less is more when…

How to Take Bigger Risks This Year
Something fascinating happened to me a few years ago that was worth repeating. I had this experience that totally changed my perspective on how I would think and do things in my business and my personal life. Here’s what happened— I had decided to go to the DMV, yes everyone’s favorite place to make jokes about. I had been putting it off for almost a year and I had to finally deal with getting a new title. I actually wanted to cross if off my to-do list! (I had paid off my car loan—yeah, and needed to get the lien holder name off my car title.) I had a phone…

What My Chestnut Chasing Dog Taught Me About Implementation & Getting More Done!
It’s fall here in Virginia and I know that not only because there’s a little chill in the air, and … I know because now when I got to hiking with my rescue dog Lily, she chases after all the chestnuts falling from the trees. The whole scene is actually quite comical, albeit sometimes a little frustrating. We get a pretty good pace going, then all of sudden we come across this huge patch of several hundred chestnuts on the ground and more falling. (In fact, I have to be careful and often dodge those falling from the trees or they get me right on the old noggin.) As soon as Lily sees…

It all Boils Down to Courage- Do You Have What it Takes?
One of my favorite quotes is “Fall down 7 times, get up 8” by Buddha. It’s such a subtle quote and so much where I’ve been these past 8 months. I can’t believe I haven’t written since October of last year! Or maybe I can after I tell you all I’ve been going through—and it really does “all boil down to courage…” Have you ever had the rug pulled out from under you? Like really pulled hard and you land smack on your rear end in shock of what just happened. Well, that’s what happened to me… My relationship of 12 years ended back in September of 2012, and that…

5 Steps to Daring Greatly and Living Authentically
It’s interesting how life throws these curve balls at you and even more interesting how you respond. One thing I know for sure is that life is ALL about CHANGE—you have to simply just expect it and realize you absolutely have NO CONTROL What we need to do is simply prepare ourselves well with riding the waves… And that’s how this post came to be… the 5 Steps to Daring Greatly and Living Authentically… It’s funny how things happen—because I certainly don’t believe in coincidences… The whole month of July I was away traveling— only home for 5 days, and they weren’t even consecutive days! And on my last trip…

The Real “How” to Create Your Own Info Products
One of the things I’ve discovered is that there are tons and I mean tons of information out there on how to create products and how to market them… Yet, the one thing I saw that was missing was something that was really clear and simple about “how” to do it… So I came up with some basic principles that will help folks on how to do it— You have to survey your audience and find out what they want and how they want it delivered and how to price it, which you can get that info from this blog— Once you know which product to create– then you need…

What’s Holding You Back From the Success You Deserve?
This question I’ve been asked countless of times from coach’s, mentors, therapists, and many an event speaker. In fact, I just got back from listening to Larry Winget speak at the Glazer Kennedy Super Conference in Dallas and his approach was more like a baseball bat to the forehead, but I think it worked. I know I GOT it- what he was saying… let me explain… If you don’t know Larry he has several best-selling books out there- one called- Shut Up, Stop Whining & Get a Life, my other favorite is- You’re Broke Because You Want To Be. He has an interesting no holds bar approach to success and…

It’s All About the Questions
There is quote by Albert Einstein that says “If you can’t explain it simply, then you don’t understand it well enough.” This quote says it all when it comes to the topic of this week’s blog. It’s ALL About the Questions! This is actually STEP 2 – AFTER you figure out your goals and outcomes of what you want from doing your survey. Creating questions for your survey products is incredibly important because it will shape the answers you will receive and ULTIMATELY what you will be able to do with that information. Through this questioning process, you will step closer to finding success in your business. Step # 2…
