Hi,

I wanted to give you my sincere thanks for all your feedback last week. I’m loving it and appreciate everyone who took that extra minute to type some quick feedback.

It meant a lot to me. I know how crazy busy we all are.

I hear you and have lined up some more ideas on mindset, how it can impact you as an entrepreneur, and how to work through it to keep at your craft every day and create tremendous success for yourself. We’re definitely in this together! 🙂

Giving up control – it’s a breakthrough moment

Let’s Talk About Money for a Minute…

Have you ever bought an app on your phone, signed up for an online course, or bought a book that’s still collecting dust on your shelf?

Maybe you felt a little guilty for not getting around to it, for letting it sit unused.

Now, let’s flip the script. Say you’re about to book a nice dinner for you and your spouse or partner at a fancy restaurant. Yet, when making the reservation, they mention there’s a $50 cancellation fee if you cancel at the last minute.

Does that make you pause?

Does it affect your decision to book the reservation?

I find it fascinating how we can be totally okay with spending money on something small like a phone app or big like buying a course, book, or coaching program. Yet, the idea of having to pay a non-refundable deposit can make us hesitate. It’s all tied to how we view control and choices around money.

What Does This Have to Do With Giving Up Control?

In your business (and life), there’s incredible power in giving others more control over their relationship with you. Whether it’s your dream clients, friends, or family, people appreciate having choices—they love flexibility, and they don’t like being forced into decisions. (No one likes being forced into a decision.)

Here’s an example: Airlines have historically made a fortune from change fees. After the pandemic, some realized that removing those fees built more trust and loyalty and attracted more customers. The result? They got more business.

It’s human nature that when people feel they have freedom and control, they’re more likely to trust and engage with you.

Love this quote I found, “People love choices, but they hate decisions.”

How You Can Apply This In Your Business:

Here are some ways to give your dream clients more choice and freedom, making it easier for them to say “yes” to working with you:

  1. Flexible Payment Options
    • Offer payment plans, sliding scale pricing, or subscription-based payments. This gives your dream clients the flexibility to choose what fits their budget and reduces the stress of one-time payments.
    • How to Implement: Offer a “pay as you go” option, allowing clients to commit to one session at a time or package savings for upfront payments.
  2. Multiple Ways to Connect
    • Give your dream clients options to reach out to you—via email, phone, text, or social platforms. Let them choose what works best for them.
    • Some Ideas: A wellness business could offer consultations via Zoom, phone, or in person based on their dream client’s comfort level.
  3. Money-Back Guarantees
    • Remove the pressure of commitment by offering a reasonable time-limited money-back guarantee—three months, six months, or even one year. This gives your dream clients peace of mind, knowing they can back out if it’s not the right fit. (Note: Research shows that the longer the cancellation time, the fewer cancellations you will receive. I know, weird, right?!
    • Example: Whatever you are selling, ensure you have at least a 30-day money-back guarantee. This builds trust by showing confidence in your product or service with a money-back guarantee, reassuring buyers they have nothing to lose.

Bonus Tips to Foster Trust:

  • Be Transparent with Communication: Always keep communication open. If something changes, let your clients know right away. Transparency builds long-term relationships.
  • Highlight Flexibility as a Feature: If your business policies are more client-friendly than those of your competitors, highlight that! Make flexibility part of your offer value.

How You Can Use This In Your Relationships:

This shift in thinking can extend and benefit your relationships, too. How are you giving your colleagues, friends, and family more choices and freedom?

Here are a few ideas:

  1. Flexible Plans With Friends & Colleagues:
    • Instead of setting rigid plans with friends, give options. “Hey, we can either grab a coffee on Thursday or do a quick call Friday morning—what works best for you?”
  2. Preferred Communication Channels:
    • Let your loved ones know the best way to communicate with you if it’s an emergency call. For non-emergencies, text, and for something requiring a bigger screen, email works best.
  3. Giving Choices for Holidays & Celebrations:
    • When planning something special, give options such as going out to dinner and a movie or a quiet, cozy night in with takeout from your favorite restaurant.

By offering the people in your life more room to choose, you foster trust and connection, just as you would for your dream clients.

The Defining Moment

This simple shift—giving people more choices and more control—can be a defining moment for you. It reduces friction, builds trust, and creates deeper, more meaningful connections, both in your business and in relationships.

What’s one thing you can do this week to give your clients or loved ones more freedom in their choices?

Try it out—you might be surprised at the impact. And I’d love to hear from you. 🙂

Happy Shifting!

Paragraph I’m Pondering

This Is Just A Moment In Time:
“Remember that this moment is not your life. It’s just a moment in your life. Focus on what is in front of you right now. Ignore what it “represents,” or it “means,” or “why it happened to you.”
~ Ryan Holiday, The Obstacle is the Way, Ego is the Enemy, The Daily Stoic.

Powerful Affirmations to Inspire

  • “Money flows to me effortlessly as I follow my passion and provide value to others.”
  • “I create success by consistently offering my unique gifts and talents to the world, knowing they hold immense value.”
  • “As I succeed, I empower others to do the same, creating a ripple effect of abundance, inspiration, and positive impact.”

  • Kind of a crazy statistic, how Ireland refused to permit Google to build a data center near Dublin cuz they are projected to consume a third of Ireland’s energy by 2026… Hmmmm.

  2. Some awesome storm clouds are such novel things during the summer and fall. We only see rain in the winter, which is kinda crazy.

  6. Yeah, I’m not sure what this is about. I think she just needed some alone time, like we all do.
